Walter Tull Workshops

image00034.jpeg

Walter Tull was both a professional footballer player and a soldier during World War One. Walter became recognised as the first black officer to lead white British soldiers into battle. He played for Tottenham Hotspur and Northampton Town FC and has become a significant local and national figure.

NTFC Community Trust have created resources for schools to support their history curriculum (year 5/6 topic around World War 1) and Black History Month each October. Studying the life of Walter Tull promotes equality and inclusion, challenging discrimination and sending the message of football being everyone’s game.
