Premier League Kicks: Free Football, Positive Opportunities and Stronger Communities

Northampton Town FC Community Trust is continuing to bring free football to young people across Northamptonshire through Premier League Kicks for the 2026/27 season

Football is more than just a game. It’s a way to bring people together, build confidence and create positive opportunities for young people.

Through Premier League Kicks, Northampton Town FC Community Trust provides free evening football sessions for young people aged 8–18, helping them stay active, develop their skills and build positive relationships within their communities.

Free football across Northamptonshire

Premier League Kicks offers young people the opportunity to take part in regular football sessions in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

With sessions delivered across Northamptonshire, the programme aims to make football accessible to young people in their local communities, regardless of their experience or ability.

All sessions are free for young people aged 8–18 and for all genders (unless specified).

Each session provides an opportunity for young people to enjoy football, meet new people and take part in something positive during the evening.

More than just football

While football is at the heart of Premier League Kicks, the programme is about much more than what happens on the pitch.

Through regular participation, young people can develop valuable skills such as teamwork, communication and resilience, while building confidence and positive relationships with others.

The programme also helps create opportunities for young people to engage with trusted adults and become more connected to their communities.

At Northampton Town FC Community Trust, we believe football can play an important role in helping young people overcome barriers, discover their potential and feel a sense of belonging.

Educational workshops and community partnerships

As part of our commitment to supporting young people, we also work with other organisations to deliver educational workshops and raise general awareness around important matters affecting young people and their communities.

These partnerships allow us to bring together the expertise of different organisations and provide young people with opportunities to learn, ask questions and develop a greater understanding of issues that can affect their lives.

Through workshops and educational activities, we aim to encourage positive conversations, promote awareness and support young people to make informed decisions.

Our work with partner organisations complements the football sessions, helping ensure Premier League Kicks provides opportunities for both sporting and personal development.

A message from our Youth Intervention Officer

Marc Barnett, Youth Interventions Officer at Northampton Town FC Community Trust, explains why Premier League Kicks is so important:

“Premier League Kicks is a fantastic opportunity to use football to engage young people and create positive experiences within their communities.

“For us, it is not just about developing football skills. It is about building confidence, resilience and positive relationships, while giving young people a safe and welcoming environment where they can enjoy themselves and reach their potential.

“We also recognise the importance of working with other organisations to provide educational opportunities and raise awareness around matters that affect young people. By bringing people together through football and education, we can help create positive experiences and support young people to make informed decisions.

“We want to make sure young people have access to opportunities that can make a real difference, both on and off the pitch.”

Helping build stronger communities

Premier League Kicks is part of Northampton Town FC Community Trust’s commitment to using the power of football to inspire and support people across Northamptonshire.

By providing free football sessions in local communities and working with partner organisations, the programme aims to encourage participation, reduce barriers to sport and support young people to develop positive connections.

Whether someone is attending their first football session or is already passionate about the game, Premier League Kicks offers an opportunity to get involved, have fun and be part of something positive.
