Northampton Football For Good League

The Northampton Town Community Trust are launching the Northampton Football For Good League on Wednesday 29th May.

100% of the weekly match fees from the new five-a-side league will be invested directly into the local community.

The league is one of six across the country being run in partnership with the Street Soccer Foundation, a national youth homelessness charity, and the money it raises will be used to fund programmes for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in the local area.

This includes initiatives run by the NTFC Community Trust as well as the Street Soccer Academy programme, a 10-week personal development programme for 18-to-30-year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness which uses football as a catalyst to engage participants in employability workshops, mentoring, football training and positive-mindset coaching.

The Northampton Football For Good League will be held on the community all-weather pitch at Sixfields on Wednesdays between 6pm and 8pm. It gets underway on Wednesday 27th March.

Local businesses and groups of friends can enter five-a-side teams at footballforgoodleagues.org.uk/leagues/northampton-town/. There is a weekly team fee of £35.

Akshay Mistry, Health and Wellbeing Officer at the NTFC Community Trust, is delighted to have set-up the league.

“We are excited to launch the Northampton Football For Good League on our new community mini-pitch at Sixfields Stadium,” he said.

“The league will allow us to engage with local businesses in their community and provide their workforces with the opportunity to stay active in a competitive environment.

“Additionally, this relationship will allow us to involve local partners in our wider work and support us in continuing to create stronger, safer, more connected communities.”
